A voter approved ballot issue created the Eastmont Metropolitan Park District in May of 2004 for the management, control, improvement, maintenance, and acquisition of parks, parkways, boulevards, and recreational facilities.

Board members of the Eastmont Metropolitan Park District are elected for six-year terms; there are five elected board positions that makeup the Eastmont Metropolitan Park District Board. Every two years elections are held for park board commissioners. The park board positions are staggered at two-year intervals.

Those living within the Eastmont Metropolitan Park District area fund the Eastmont Metropolitan Park District from residential property tax assessments. The current voter approved assessment is $ 0.50 per $1,000 of assessed value.

The governing authority and responsibilities for the Eastmont Metropolitan Park District are outlined in: The Revised Code of Washington State Chapter 35.61, and is available for download in PDF format.
